et's put the game aside, shall we? I never played it and I heard too many rumours about it being
plain rubbish to care about it. So let's concentrate on the loading picture, which I felt had some potential.
I had seen the commercial in the Zzap! 64 magazine and
found it intriguing. For once, Pacman looked fierce and vicious! The alien landscape also looked good, so for me
it was a definite thumbs up for that artwork. The game loading picture, on the other hand, was quite a letdown. Bland
and uninspired, although all ingredients were there, waiting for me.
So I cleaned it up a bit, gave some room to the ghost on the left, made everything look rounder using gradients and
dithering, added some elements I took from the commercial
(like the yellow box and the strange red plants for instance), added some more color, and voila !
Sounds easy, doesn't it? Well believe me, it wasn't! I started this one in July 2004, and it took me about 22 months
to get it right (with huge gaps of course). The characters came out easily, but the walls and the ground had me biting
my nails more than once.
At first, I wanted to include the weird labyrinth effect on the ceiling, but finally I had to change to a more reasonable
sky, because I just couldn't get it to work. Shame on me!
Oh, well! I like it just the way it is. Don't you? |
